The rumors are true!  We’re hosting a prom at SPX 2014
Ok, ok, it all started a few years back when Matt and Shannon and Tony were chatting with us about adding some sort of rump-shaking component to the Ignatz Afterparty, which for all its well deserved glory is a bit of a shuffle and chat affair.
No sooner did we get the ladies from dirtydiamondscomic involved, than they gave this thing a name.  Our plans for sweet beats became even sweeter when #SPromX was born.
Now don’t worry, all we want from you is to have the best time ever.
But… if that best time involves getting a little more dressed up than strictly necessary, high kicking like prime David Lee Roth and snapping some silly pics with you’re friends, well, I think you’ll fit right in.
If you’re intrigued - and how could you not be, send a sketch of yourself dancing to tonybreed.
He’s got something cookin!
See you soon!

Weird Me (Vol. 1)

by Kelly Phillips

Once upon a time, I was a moderately successful webmaster of a “Weird Al” Yankovic fan site. From minor notoriety, to jet-setting for concerts, to earning a stalker, Weird Me showcases the awkward (and true) intricacies of an adolescence spent carving out a corner of the internet frontier in dedicated to the king of parody.

From Kelly Phillips, co-editor of Dirty Diamonds, comes the first volume in this multi-part confessional. The book includes preview pages from the upcoming volume, and a privileged link to the resurrected, original fan site.

36 page comic – color cover / b&w interior – 8.5” x 5.5”

$5

Kelly & Claire were busy sorting books, signing bookplates, eating gyros, and packing up Kickstarter shipments last night! Someday I won’t live in a world of boxes anymore.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see Dirty Diamonds at the Haverford township free library comic con! I got to threaten Kelly with a friendly-teen-volunteer’s sonic screwdriver! Kelly was unimpressed…

Eleven days left for our Kickstarter! We’re 90% there! http://kck.st/PTs7jV

We posted our latest project update earlier today with some thoughts on MoCCA Fest (HELLO to all of the amazing people we met!) AND the last of our blooper reels from the Kickstarter video. Check it out! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dirtydiamonds/dirty-diamonds-5-comics/posts

Please share this post to help us make a strong push through this week to reach our goal! Every dollar counts to fund the printing of this issue and putting well-deserved dollars directly into the pockets of the artists involved.

Make sure to say hi if you’ll be at Asbury Park Comicon this weekend (April 12th & 13th) - you can find Kelly & Claire of Dirty Diamonds, along with cover artist Carey Pietsch, at table C-330!

Saying Hi to Kickstarter Creators at MoCCA Arts Fest

Beneath the watchful eye of a giant floating Charlie Brown, we visited the MoCCA Arts Festival this past weekend and caught up with some fantastic project creators. There were great Kickstarter-funded comics to be found all over the festival — above are just a handful of the creators we saw (and managed to take photos of). Pictured:

Great seeing everyone — now go back some projects and read some comics!

Dirty Diamonds is featured on the Kickstarter blog! Thanks for stopping by to say hi at MoCCA Fest.

Don’t forget - DIRTY DIAMONDS starts its big Spring con season this weekend at MoCCA Fest! :)

We’ll also be at Drink & Draw Like a Lady on Friday, so make sure to say hi! (The poster this year was done by our tablemate and DD#5 cover artist Carey Pietsch)
